Old Town in Albuquerque, New Mexico is one of my favorite places. When I lived there, I loved window- shopping and people watching in this area of Albuquerque. Old Town, appropriately named because it is the oldest part of Albuquerque, was established in 1706. It features historical adobe buildings renovated into stores. Of course, you have to know where to shop for the best prices on jewelry and other gifts like chiles and kachina dolls or you will pay tourist prices through the nose. Even if you're not in the mood for shopping, it's a great place to people watch, photograph the local culture, grab a bite to eat, and find inspiration for your own creative endeavors. More than one story idea for me came from this experience. Today, I'd like to share some of my photos from Old Town with you. I have so many that I will be doing a two-part post on Old Town.

Oh, what a delight -- I love New Mexico. truly, a most magical state. The country is beautiful and so spiritual. I loved visiting the churches, especially that healing one in Chimayo? Am I remembering right? Thank you for these photos. I've only been there twice, but never forgot it. A piece of it came back in my heart.
Sandra, that is correct. I didn't ever visit that one. I only lived in NM for about a year and a half. There was so much to see and do. I couldn't fit it all in!
I will be posting more pics of NM in the next week. Stay tuned...
Hi hi :) I know, it's a tough thing whether or not to publish your work on your blog. I never post longer works that I hope to have published some day, only a chapter or two to get opinions. Nice to meet a fellow writer :) want be critique buddies? :D
Love NM! I've been to Santa Fe, the faux-dobe architecture and native arts made it feel pretty authentic, tho I bet your old town is the real deal!
Thanks for the nice comment on my blog!
The Old Town truly is pretty. My favorite thing about Spanish architecture is the interior courtyard - it never fails to remind me of Spain. I imagine the Southwestern food there is fantastic, too.
@Ajax You are welcome!
@Lilu I am on Critters and do my critiquing there. I don't send my work to people I don't know, sorry. It's just a copyright protection thing. I trust Critters and they are great. You should try them. critters.org
@Erin You know, they put green chiles on EVERYTHING. There's even green chile ice cream, which I never tried. I do love green chile cheeseburgers, though. If anyone ever asks you green or red in NM, say green. Red is super hot chiles. LOL Though the green ones can bite back too, if there's been enough rain and heat. So I've heard ... I'm not the pepper farmer. LOL
