This blog is supposed to be about writing, but I can't focus to write anything right now. Derrick, my dragon, is still with us. He's improved some, but not enough. He is still having problems with his legs. There could be a neurological cause like a tumor or a brain infection. He's been tested for a contagious virus, which could have been passed along to my other dragon, Mike. Mike is starting to show signs of being sick as well. I am not sure if either of them will make it. This virus is fatal and if they are showing these symptoms, it means they are really, truly sick.
We have had Mike for 7 years and Derrick for four. Derrick is a rescue. He is five and a half and Mike is, well, 7. I hate to think of losing one or both of them, but that might be the case in the next week or so. I am having trouble focusing on writing anything and spending a lot of time nursing my two sick friends. Please be patient with me. I hope to be on track as soon as I can.

That is a tough job, good luck with the pets...
Thanks. Derrick's adeno test came back negative, so I do not need to worry about him getting Mike sick. Mike is acting normal. It appears he was just being weird for a day or two. He does that sometimes, but when one is sick, you never know. Derrick is hanging in there. He is syringe eating and using the bathroom and running around, even though one of his legs is not working right and he is wobbly and off-balance. He is a trooper. The vets say to not give up on him and give him a few more weeks to pull through. They are hopeful, since he is stronger than he was when they saw him first. I hope the best for my baby. We'll see. It is taking so much time to take care of Derrick now and my zoo at home. I have a lot of animals and when one is sick, it's a toll on me. I'm tired. LOL
Writer's block is a nasty thing, but chisel it one word at a time.
Hope your pets get better soon. :)
Ann, I'm not suffering from writer's block. I am fine there. I am just too tired and stressed to focus on my stories right now. Derrick has to be checked on every 3-4 hours through the night and day. I cannot leave him alone very long. He is being fed through a syringe. I have to bathe him every day and he needs to go outside. And I am back and forth to the vet a lot right now. Today, he looks like he is improving. I also have a few other animals that decided to get sick at the same time, so a lot of my time during the day is devoted to them. I have a large zoo of exotic reptiles and they need a lot of care, even more so when they get sick. And 3 cats. :)
Forgot -- thanks for the get-betters for the pets. It's kind of you, Ann, and Susie to care about animals you've never met.
