At the last minute, though, I did decide to make a mini-jack out of an orange. Painted, of course, rather than carved, with the candle sticking through the top.Erin O'Riordanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14829574740027964039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7128842928560054085.post-4216408913867126772011-11-04T18:54:46.510-07:002011-11-04T18:54:46.510-07:00Thanks for the follow on the reading. Loved it!

As for the pumpkins, they have them at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, so I am sure they probably carry them at JoAnne's too. They are pricey, if you don't buy on sale or with coupon, so watch for sales. And buy the tools they sell for carving. The other pumpkin kits from the grocery will work, but the ones they sell for artificial carving are a little easier to work with for the texture. You can even get OCD and sand your edges to make them smoother, if you'd like, but what I liked the most was skipping the mess of scooping and carrying out a rotting pumpkin with juice spilling everywhere. Yuck!

However, I will still carve the traditional jacks too. Can't beat a real one for some things. My lizards love pumpkin, so they got all the insides this year in their salads.
